Few know that Idaho is known as the Gem State,
but all know that Idaho has provided Torah High with a real gem, one
of our most popular teachers, Mrs. Kari Tapia. Mrs. Tapia comes to
Torah High with an extensive educational background. She has a BA
from Concordia University and is completing her Masters Degree in
Education at Point Loma Nazarene University. She has taught at La
Jolla High School for several years (Algebra I, Pre-Calculus, and
AVID); coached (softball, volleyball, etc.); and has been recognized
with several prestigious awards (including being selected as Idaho's
Top Scholar). Most importantly, she has endeared herself to her
students with her patience, pleasant disposition, infectious optimism
in overcoming challenges, and focus on each student. Mrs. Tapia
introduced Torah High to a groundbreaking interactive math program
(ALEKS) that is facilitated over the internet. The feedback (sorry,
we were thinking about the next article already) on this program has
been incredible as many girls for the first time actually enjoy doing
math. Since this program has been introduced at La Jolla High School,
they have seen a marked improvement in test scores. We warmly welcome
Mrs. Kari Tapia to our staff.
